मंगलाचरण

चूडोत्तंसितचारुचन्द्रकलिकाचञ्चच्छिखाभासुरो
    लीलादग्धविलोलकामशलभः श्रेयोदशाग्रे स्फुरन् ।
अन्तःस्फूर्जदपारमोहतिमिरप्राग्भारमुच्छेदयं -
    श्चेतःसद्मनि योगिनां विजयते ज्ञानप्रदीपो हरः ॥

cUDottaMsitacArucandrakalikAcancacCiKABAsuro
    lIlAdagdhavilolakAmaSalaBaH SreyodaSAgre sPuran ।
antaHsPUrjadapAramohatimiraprAgBAramucCedayaM -
    ScetaHsadmani yoginAM vijayate jnAnapradIpo haraH ॥

Salutions to Lord Shiva. Chandra who showers his benevolent light on the earth (during night times, there by driving away the darkness) has found a place on his head. He burnt Kamadeva (cupid) with ease who was fluttering like a moth (being driven towards a flame). He is the source of the brilliance in every one which helps to drive away greed and darkness inside oneself. He is the one that turns on the light of knowledge in the minds (which are otherwise like dark empty rooms) of the yogis. Salutations to Lord Shiva.
