अपूज्या यत्र पूज्यन्ते पूज्यानां तु विमानना ।
त्रीणि तत्र प्रवर्तन्ते दुर्भिक्षं मरणं भयम् ॥

In a place where respectable people are not respected and where rogues are respected more – three things are bound to be abundant. Poverty (misery), death and fear.

स्वयं च बुद्ध्या प्रविचारिताश्रयम् ।
करोति कार्यं खलु यः स बुद्धिमान्

svayaM ca buddhyA pravichAritAshrayam ।
karoti kAryaM khalu yaH sa buddhimAn

When one does any work after listening to friends and well wishers and does his own thinking – he is bound to be successful, accumulate wealth and become famous.

यो न्यायमन्यथा ब्रूते स याति नरकं नरः ॥

If a person (judge) gives bad judgment due to prejudice, greed or fear he will go to hell.

बहवो न विरोद्धव्या दर्जया हि महाजनाः ।
स्फुरन्तमपि नागेन्द्रं भक्षयन्ति पिपीलिकाः ॥

A strong person also must not fight with the weak when they are too many in number. A colony of small ants will devour a snake even if it is ferocious.

बलीयसा हीनबलो विरोधं
न भूतिकामो मनसापि वान्छेत् ।
न वध्यतेत्यन्तबलो हि यस्मा-
द्व्यक्तं प्रणशोस्ति पतंगवृत्तेः ॥

When you are weak, you should not even think of attacking a strong opponent. The strong and mighty will never fail. Destruction is assured to a person who is on the same path as the moth being attracted to flames.
