ಬರಿಯ ಬುದ್ಧಿವಿಮರ್ಶೆಗರಿದು ಜೀವನತತ್ತ್ವ ।
ಪರಿಶೋಧಿಸುವರಾರು ಬುದ್ಧಿಋಜುತೆಯನು? ॥
ಸ್ಫುರಿಸುವುದದೆಂದೊ ತಾನೇ ಮಿಂಚುಬಳ್ಳಿವೊಲು ।
ಪರತತ್ತ್ವ ಮನದೊಳಗೆ – ಮಂಕುತಿಮ್ಮ ॥ ೫೩೯ ॥

bariya buddhi vimarshegaridu jIvana tattva ।
parishOdhisuvarAru buddhi Rujuteyanu? ॥
sphurisuvudu adendo tAnE minchubaLLivolu ।
parattva manadoLage – Mankutimma ॥ 539 ॥

“Can we search for the realization of cosmic spirit be achieved just be mental calculations – logic? How can we be certain of the purity of mind? (not being corrupted by temptations of senses) The realization will appear to the mind by itself (through experiences) like a lightening in the sky.” – Mankutimma

ತನ್ನ ಬೆವರಿನ ಕೊಳದಿ ತಾಂ ಮುಳುಗಿ ತೇಲುತ್ತೆ ।
ಧನ್ಯನಾನೆನ್ನುವನದೊರ್ವ ಸ್ವತಂತ್ರನ್ ॥
ಪುಣ್ಯತೀರ್ಥದೊಳಿಳಿದು ಕರಗಲ್ ಸ್ವತಂತ್ರ ತಾನ್ ।
ಎನ್ನುವವನಿನ್ನೊರ್ವ – ಮಂಕುತಿಮ್ಮ ॥ ೫೩೮ ॥

tanna bevarina koLadi tAm muLugi tElutte ।
dhanya nAnu ennuvanu orva svatantran ॥
puNya tIrthadoLu iLidu karagal svatantra tAn ।
ennuvanu innorva – Mankutimma ॥ 538 ॥

“People find their own ways to feel free. Some do it by hard work relishing in their own sweat – satisfied by the fact that they are the masters of their own fate. Some others take a dip in the holy waters and feel free – satisfied that their fate completely rests in the hands of the all powerful God that they believe in.” – Mankutimma

ತರಣಿಶಶಿಪಥಗಳನು, ಧರೆವರುಣಗತಿಗಲನು ।
ಮರುದಗ್ನಿವೇಗಗಳ ನಿಯಮಿಸಿಹ ದಕ್ಷನ್ ॥
ನರನರಸಿಕೊಳಲಿ ದಾರಿಯ ತನಗೆ ತಾನೆಂದು ।
